Mustache cup, Antique Victorian period Mustache teacup from the 1880s-1890s. Handmade porcelain teacup with a mustache guard, the porcelain teacup is in a high relief/ 3-dimensional design, hand painted w/ 22K gold gilt, fine porcelain art, later19th c. The gold trim has worn around the saucer, the cup handle, and lightly in other areas. This item is approximately 135-145 years old, and there are no cracks or chips, and there are several different tiny marks from production and numbers on the bottom. It is in highly very good condition.

The Mustache cup was invented in the mid 1800s by an English potter named Harvey Adams. In those Victorian times, extremely men had impressive moustaches, and many men waxed or even dyed their moustaches to keep them groomed and curled and looking fabulous. And of course, they drank tea. So, what happened was wax would melt, and dye would run and gentlemen would acquire embarrassed.
So, Mr. Adams created a
