In the 1940s, during World War II, soldiers going to war had a custom of giving accessories to their families and lovers back home.
These were called sweetheart jewelry, and plenty of featured designs of the soldiers' respective military branches, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches.
This is an ID plate-style bracelet.
It features the emblem of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF), the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force.
Marked "STERLING".
Blank ID plates appreciate this are truly rare, and it's likely this item has never been owned by anyone.
While there is several distortion and scratches on the clasp side of the ID, it is not in a state where it would come off. There are only minor blemishes and scratches due to aging, and there is no damage that would affect its use.
Total length: 19cm, ID: 3.5cm x 1.2cm
